YUCK!

If Jack could talk I think he would say." Momma, I hate squash!" After getting the go ahead to start yellow veggies, our first attempt was a complete failure. Jack made the most awful faces and tried to get all of the squash out of his mouth. We will try sweet potatoes today and see what he thinks of those.

Rice on my nose

While Jack is quite good at eating his rice cereal, I am lacking in the necessary skills to feed him without getting it all over his face. How it got on his nose, I do not know. I think as I was trying to scoop it off his chin, it flipped up on his nose and stayed put. He could care less as long as I keep scooping the cereal into his mouth.

Num Yummy!

We started noticing (at 4:00 in the morning) that maybe Jack was not getting enough to eat each day. We consulted the doctor and she suggested starting him on rice cereal. We had already planned to do it when he was five and a half months, so we are starting it just a little early. The first time I made it I followed the difections on the box. BIG mistake! It was way too soupy and Jack hated it. He cried and screamed while I tried to feed it to him.
Today I tried again and ignored the directions. By the time I was done it was probably a little like watery applesauce. He was a little timid at first but then really started chowing down and opening his mouth each time he saw the spoon coming towards him. And of course, anything that gets near Jack's mouth has to be chewed on so he enjoyed chomping a bit on the spoon each time too. All in all I would say it was a successful adventure in babyland.
