After receiving his 4-month immunizations, Jack came down with a nasty fever of 102.3. By the end of the second day, you could tell he was feeling so much better. It was such a relief to have the fever go away. I started blowing raspberries at him and he got to laughing so hard that it was hard for us to not laugh along with him.

Rolling Over
I was totally freaked out on Saturday morning to walk into Jack's room to see him laying on his belly. He lifted his big head up and gave me the biggest grin. Then I realized, HE ROLLED OVER! He had done a few belly to back roll overs, kind of by accident, but no back to belly rolls. Now this morning he purposefully rolled from his back to his belly twice to try and grab at his valentine bear. I gave him lots of cheers and applause and his smile was huge. After making a few grabs at his valentine bear, he then rolled again to be on his back. He is definitely realizing more each day that he can move his body to get at things he wants and to communicate to Kevin and I on what he wants to do.

Big Enough Now!
Just before Christmas, Jack wasn't able to touch the bottom of this play center when he sat in it. Now he can stand up on his own and hold himself up while he plays. His favorite parts are the elephant and the circus book. Mostly he just chews on the book and I bet if he could get the elephant to his mouth he would start chewing on that also.Sunday, January 11, 2009

New baby play thing

Jack enjoys the continuous supply of cool baby stuff from our friends, the Campbells. As soon as their daughter gets too big or doesn't play with it anymore, Jack gets a new play toy. This one is an activity center full of whirlygigs and doo-dads. As soon as he can sit up by himself without the help of blankets wrapped around him to hold him up, I'm sure he will enjoy it.
Here he is taking a break to chew on a key from his keychain. Being a baby is such busy work.

9 Months!

At this point in the pregnancy I discovered there are about only two things you can do to get by day to day, laugh or cry. Here we are at 9 months or 38 weeks. Two more weeks until our due date of October 1st. I keep telling him he can come early but no such luck. I even told him about all the toys he has waiting for him to play with, but still nothing.
I am definitely ready to begin the next phase of this adventure.
Crib TIme

Kevin easily handles the assembly of the crib. It was given to us by Carter and Kristina Belvin. This was the final "big" thing we needed to feel like we are ready for Jack to come. The big halls and doorways in our house made it easy to assemble in the living room and just roll it down to his room.

It's a boy!

Much to our delight, Dr. G was able to tell at 14 weeks what the sex of the baby is. Her message to us on the ultrasound was, "I am a precious baby boy!"
The first picture is a close-up of baby boy . The picture below is the same just further away. The two on the right are where she determined what he was.
