Somebody Got the Giggles

After receiving his 4-month immunizations, Jack came down with a nasty fever of 102.3. By the end of the second day, you could tell he was feeling so much better. It was such a relief to have the fever go away. I started blowing raspberries at him and he got to laughing so hard that it was hard for us to not laugh along with him.

New Hat

Numerous chilly mornings led me to buying Jack a warm winter hat and jacket. It also came with mittens but he would rather chew on his fingers than have them wamn.

Rolling Over

I was totally freaked out on Saturday morning to walk into Jack's room to see him laying on his belly. He lifted his big head up and gave me the biggest grin. Then I realized, HE ROLLED OVER! He had done a few belly to back roll overs, kind of by accident, but no back to belly rolls. Now this morning he purposefully rolled from his back to his belly twice to try and grab at his valentine bear. I gave him lots of cheers and applause and his smile was huge. After making a few grabs at his valentine bear, he then rolled again to be on his back. He is definitely realizing more each day that he can move his body to get at things he wants and to communicate to Kevin and I on what he wants to do.

Newest Skill

Jack's newest skill is trying to hold his bottle by himself. He can manage the 4 oz. bottle for a few seconds before it falls out of his mouth. The opening on the bottom helps him get a good hold. He definitely recognizes his bottle and will stop crying if he sees it coming towards him.

Big Enough Now!

Just before Christmas, Jack wasn't able to touch the bottom of this play center when he sat in it. Now he can stand up on his own and hold himself up while he plays. His favorite parts are the elephant and the circus book. Mostly he just chews on the book and I bet if he could get the elephant to his mouth he would start chewing on that also.

Hanging out with Daddy

Jack and Kevin chill on the couch after finishing a bottle. Jack likes to lean on the arm of the couch and stand up so he can see what is happening in the living room.

My bottle

Caught in the act of doing what he does best, baby Jack enjoys his last bottle of the day before his bath.

New baby play thing

Jack enjoys the continuous supply of cool baby stuff from our friends, the Campbells. As soon as their daughter gets too big or doesn't play with it anymore, Jack gets a new play toy. This one is an activity center full of whirlygigs and doo-dads. As soon as he can sit up by himself without the help of blankets wrapped around him to hold him up, I'm sure he will enjoy it.
Here he is taking a break to chew on a key from his keychain. Being a baby is such busy work.

Standing tall

Jack loves to stand up whenever given the chance. He loves to look around and notice things when he is standing.

Happy Halloween!

Miss Rosa at school gave Jack this horse costume. What a cute horsie! He is all set for the trick or treating to begin.

Tummy Time

Jack spends some time each day on his tummy to help build his muscles. He is getting really good at holding his head up when we burp him and he loves to push off with his feet to move across the blanket.

Big Boy Bath

Jack really enjoyed his first bath since his umbilical cord fell off. Warm water and the attention of both his parents were just what he needed. I took his diaper off a little too soon before the warm water was ready so he let me know he was cold as only little boys can.

Proud Grandparents

Jack's first visitors at the house were both sets of grandparents. They couldn't take their eyes off his cute little face. What a lucky grandbaby!

Daddy's Little Man

Kevin and Jack settle in to practice the art of napping at the hospital. Jack is a pro once he gets swaddled up and his hat on.

John Patrick Flavin Has Arrived!

Our little bundle of joy arrived on October 3rd at 1:53 am. The labor and delivery was amazingly quick, laboring for only 10 hours. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20 and a 1/4 inches.

9 Months!

At this point in the pregnancy I discovered there are about only two things you can do to get by day to day, laugh or cry. Here we are at 9 months or 38 weeks. Two more weeks until our due date of October 1st. I keep telling him he can come early but no such luck. I even told him about all the toys he has waiting for him to play with, but still nothing.

I am definitely ready to begin the next phase of this adventure.

Crib TIme

Kevin easily handles the assembly of the crib. It was given to us by Carter and Kristina Belvin. This was the final "big" thing we needed to feel like we are ready for Jack to come. The big halls and doorways in our house made it easy to assemble in the living room and just roll it down to his room.

It's a boy!

Much to our delight, Dr. G was able to tell at 14 weeks what the sex of the baby is. Her message to us on the ultrasound was, "I am a precious baby boy!"
The first picture is a close-up of baby boy . The picture below is the same just further away. The two on the right are where she determined what he was.
