Somebody Got the Giggles

After receiving his 4-month immunizations, Jack came down with a nasty fever of 102.3. By the end of the second day, you could tell he was feeling so much better. It was such a relief to have the fever go away. I started blowing raspberries at him and he got to laughing so hard that it was hard for us to not laugh along with him.

Transmission Rebuild

Kevin and Jack celebrate the completion of the transmission rebuild. Kevin took apart the entire transmission and determined what needed to be repaired. It was Kevin's first time rebuilding a tranmission and he did it perfectly! He even managed to put the transmission back into the Camaro by himself.

5 Points of LIfe 5K

Back in December I set a goal for myself to run this 5K race. I dragged my friends Brynn and Dee into it with me because misery loves company, right? It was a chilly morning but we quickly warmed up as we ran past Lake Alice, North-South Drive, and the IFAS fields. Dee and I have done races before but this was Brynn's first road race. I think we finished in about 40 minutes. I was amazed that we were able to run the entire thing, especially since our training had been mostly walking. Who's up for another race?

Transmission Repair

Behold the mighty transmission has been Flavinized. Completely stripped of all parts, examined, cleaned, and new parts ordered. This was the firt transmission that Kevin has rebuilt. He ordered updated manuals and a DVD to help him along the process. Bill's Low Cost Transmission Shop helped out by cleaning some parts for free.

Katherine and Michael

Katherine and Michael came over to the house with Carter to take some of the firewood that Virgil had given us. Even after they loaded their portion up in their truck, we still had enought for another huge pile out by the pumphouse. Of course, no trip to the Flavin house is complete without a ride on the 4-wheeler. Carter took turns riding his kids around the yard and neighborhood.

New Hat

Numerous chilly mornings led me to buying Jack a warm winter hat and jacket. It also came with mittens but he would rather chew on his fingers than have them wamn.

Rolling Over

I was totally freaked out on Saturday morning to walk into Jack's room to see him laying on his belly. He lifted his big head up and gave me the biggest grin. Then I realized, HE ROLLED OVER! He had done a few belly to back roll overs, kind of by accident, but no back to belly rolls. Now this morning he purposefully rolled from his back to his belly twice to try and grab at his valentine bear. I gave him lots of cheers and applause and his smile was huge. After making a few grabs at his valentine bear, he then rolled again to be on his back. He is definitely realizing more each day that he can move his body to get at things he wants and to communicate to Kevin and I on what he wants to do.

Future Highway Patrol

My two guys relax in the hammock after a beautiful day (and a very long week).
On Monday Kevin completed the last component of his application for the auxillary highway patrol.
Also on Monday was Jack's 4-month well check. He had a mild ear infection so we postponed his shots until the 18th.
The hat Jack is wearing was a present from our neighbor Scott who is a retired highway patrolman.

Newest Skill

Jack's newest skill is trying to hold his bottle by himself. He can manage the 4 oz. bottle for a few seconds before it falls out of his mouth. The opening on the bottom helps him get a good hold. He definitely recognizes his bottle and will stop crying if he sees it coming towards him.
