New baby play thing

Jack enjoys the continuous supply of cool baby stuff from our friends, the Campbells. As soon as their daughter gets too big or doesn't play with it anymore, Jack gets a new play toy. This one is an activity center full of whirlygigs and doo-dads. As soon as he can sit up by himself without the help of blankets wrapped around him to hold him up, I'm sure he will enjoy it.
Here he is taking a break to chew on a key from his keychain. Being a baby is such busy work.

Christmas morning

Jack's first Christmas was full of presents, family, food and fun. We welcomed Grandpa and Grandma Flavin, Aunt Gail, Aunt Rita, and cousin Janese to the festiviites of the day. After our busy morning Jack and Kevin enjoy a nap.

Standing tall

Jack loves to stand up whenever given the chance. He loves to look around and notice things when he is standing.

My Buddy

Jack's new friend, Bull, visits for the day from the North Pole.

Starting him early

After working on the engine a bit with dad, Jack enjoys a joyride in the Austin Healey. Jack had his shop rag ready just in case he got dirty. Do they make booster seats for cars?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jack wants to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. He eagerly awaits our family visiting again to get some grandparent and auntie time in. Too bad they don't make turkey flavored formula.

Go Gators!

Kevin and Jack enjoyed watching the Florida Gators beat up on the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.

Halloween with the Campbell's

Chuck, Dee, and Maddie came over to hang out on Halloween night. I couldn't find a pumpkin big enough to fit Maddie but Jack wasn't as lucky. We were visited by many trick or treaters that night that came by either tractor, trailer, or truck.

3rd grade visit

We stopped by PK to visit with my class. I had been gone for 6 weeks and was anxious to see how my kids were doing. They really enjoyed seeing Jack and were amazed at his big blue eyes.

Auntie Karen visits

Karen visited for a week to help take care of Jack. She quickly become a pro at taking care of him and was a huge help all week. Here we are on Halloween night showing off our carved pumpkins. The pumpkin in the middle is the cutest, I think.

Happy Halloween!

Miss Rosa at school gave Jack this horse costume. What a cute horsie! He is all set for the trick or treating to begin.

Tummy Time

Jack spends some time each day on his tummy to help build his muscles. He is getting really good at holding his head up when we burp him and he loves to push off with his feet to move across the blanket.

Big Boy Bath

Jack really enjoyed his first bath since his umbilical cord fell off. Warm water and the attention of both his parents were just what he needed. I took his diaper off a little too soon before the warm water was ready so he let me know he was cold as only little boys can.

Proud Grandparents

Jack's first visitors at the house were both sets of grandparents. They couldn't take their eyes off his cute little face. What a lucky grandbaby!

Daddy's Little Man

Kevin and Jack settle in to practice the art of napping at the hospital. Jack is a pro once he gets swaddled up and his hat on.

John Patrick Flavin Has Arrived!

Our little bundle of joy arrived on October 3rd at 1:53 am. The labor and delivery was amazingly quick, laboring for only 10 hours. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20 and a 1/4 inches.

9 Months!

At this point in the pregnancy I discovered there are about only two things you can do to get by day to day, laugh or cry. Here we are at 9 months or 38 weeks. Two more weeks until our due date of October 1st. I keep telling him he can come early but no such luck. I even told him about all the toys he has waiting for him to play with, but still nothing.

I am definitely ready to begin the next phase of this adventure.

Crib TIme

Kevin easily handles the assembly of the crib. It was given to us by Carter and Kristina Belvin. This was the final "big" thing we needed to feel like we are ready for Jack to come. The big halls and doorways in our house made it easy to assemble in the living room and just roll it down to his room.

Colorado Trip

Kevin and I shared George and Eileen's campsite by setting up our tent. I managed to sleep two nights in the tent before being 5 1/2 months pregnant made that impossible. We moved a short distance away to a wonderful hotel in Pitkin. We enjoyed campfires and roasting marshmellows everynight as we watched the stars come out.
George took us on several beautiful drives all along mountain streams rushing with the winter snow melt.

Colorado

As Kevin and I drove out of Denver I began to recognize familiar scenery. Much to our delight we came upon Red Rocks. I had visited this place several times growing up in CO. They have added a museum and gift shop underneath the seats.

Movin' on up... to the 3rd grade

I was thrilled when Amy asked me to move to 3rd grade... then reality sunk in. I packed all of my stuff up and then began the tedious process of finding new homes for everything in a room with 50% less storage areas. Added to that was my turtle like movements from having a preggo belly. Thankfully I had all summer to tackle each box. Here you see my new room with everything just about out of a box, just not placed in its new home yet.

New addition to the (car) family

Kevin arrived home from the auction in Tampa and quickly began playing with the siren and lights that came with this car. In it's previous life it was a batallion chief's car for a fire department. Slowly but surely it is being transformed into the official baby transportation vehicle. I am very thankful for its amazing air conditioning system.

Gail & Chris' Wedding

Gail and Chris were married on June 15th in Clearwater. Here I am with Gail and our good friend Sarah. It was great to be reunited with my two good friends.

Myrtle Beach Half-Marathon

When I signed up for this race with Karen, I had no idea I would be 8 weeks pregnant when it came around. Luckily I was able to continue my training and only have the usual aches and pains related to walking 13.1 miles.
Karen and I finished the race in about 2 1/2 hours. The race officials had run out of half-marathon medals so we got full marathon medals instead.
This happened in February, but I just found these pictures!

Myrtle Beach Half-Marathon!

Karen stands by the countdown clock at the race expo. The expo was full of goodies that every runner needs, especially sticker!

Dubai

The haze is pretty much a constant thing over there. They are more likely to have a sand storm than a rainstorm.

Kevin spent two and a half weeks in Dubai this month. This is a typical picture, construction is happening 24 hours a day.

It's a boy!

Much to our delight, Dr. G was able to tell at 14 weeks what the sex of the baby is. Her message to us on the ultrasound was, "I am a precious baby boy!"
The first picture is a close-up of baby boy . The picture below is the same just further away. The two on the right are where she determined what he was.

Spring Break Finally!

Angela and I pose with a few kids from the class. Baylee, Andres, Zane, Austin, Cassie, and Anna had to try very hard to not put bunny ears on their teachers. Angela's son, Michael, is an expert photographer at age 6 and took the picture for us. Woo Hoo!! Let's start Spring Break!

Kevin and I enjoyed a picnic at the annual Family picnic held every Friday just before Spring Break starts. It was a perfect day with just enough clouds and wind to hold off the hot temperatures.

Kelly, my mentor

Kelly was a huge help in getting this done. I couldn't (or wouldn't) of done it without her help.

Finally Done!

Here I am packing the box with my National Board paperwork. 6 months of hard work is now on its way to Texas to be graded. I am so glad to be done with it.

Here we go!

This will be our way of sharing the happenings of the Flavin Family. Check back every once in awhile to see new things.
